We had to post the rough cut on 17th November. Editing up to this point has been successful, yet we was short of clips, as we had recorded footage but the lighting was to dull hence whilst Ryan edited the rest of the group went out filming, therefore we haven't got all the footage from Regents Canal.
The rough cut demonstrates the rang of shot types we included, and experimentation with the camera for example, changes in focus, close ups, long shots, medium shots. Our main aim in the Rough cut was to establish the character, which was easy as we only have one character. We experimented with the transitions and have included a flashing effect, which works well with the beats, we intend repeat this when the music gets to the same point, repetition is a known convention of a music video.
Our music video has a religious element, therefore we included shots which connote religion for example the religious statues and crosses. We made sure we included these vital shots in the rough cut so we could show the direction out music video is going, with a religious motif.
We are currently in the progress of editing our final music video, from the rough cut we have learned we have become more aware of our time and how we should manage it before a deadline. Reviewing our footage so far we know what we need to include, for example we needed to reshoot the footage from Regents canal and include more close ups, close ups are important with music videos as it creates more intimacy with the audience, and familiarises the performer which is one of the main intentions of a music video.
